Artist Statement

I have been an artist all my life, primarily working with oils, watercolors and photography. Recently I started exploring metalwork, which allows me to created pieces that are permanent and wearable. Precious metals and gemstones called to me.  My inspiration comes from nature, mythology, archaeology and cosmology. My designs come to life spontaneously, much like my paintings, and often express archetypal symbols. I choose to work with ethically sourced recycled metals, and vintage stones and beads. Each and every stone is chosen for it’s unique and interesting characteristics. I find beauty in imperfect gemstones and their natural inclusions.    I make jewelry that can be worn everyday and for any occasion. I create these objects with the intention to make the person wearing them feel protected an empowered.
